Magpie Materials Nutria Guard Hairs. I found that nutria pelts, especially down the spine, are full of long, stiff, springy guard hairs that make excuisite tailing material. Thin, shiny, stiff yet springy, we might be able to think of these as “Nature’s Microfibettes.” Give them a try. I’ve nearly completely switched over to using these exclusively on my parachutes, but they do the business on any style of dry fly. Also, sub out in place of Microfibettes on the venerable RS2 for a more natural and environmentally-conscious trout snack. Also, every patch has some excellent dubbing that you can rake out or trim out.
