MAGPIE K-RAT BLEND DUBBING

Magpie Materials K-rat Blend Dubbing. A proprietary blend of raw kapok fiber and muskrat fur that brings the properties of both in one great dubbing blend. In utilizing raw kapok, we keep the naturally water resistant floaty properties intact, rather than in stripping those properties to make it take dye. Kapok is a cotton-like fiber that is hollow and has a lignen and carbohydrate make-up. It is 8x lighter than cotton, and as you can see in the pictures, has a natural sheen. We realized that in blending with another naturally water-shedding material, like muskrat, we can add durability and the ability to color the kapok without stripping kapok of its properties. This dubbing is naturally fine and fluffy, and can at once dub the thinnest of dubbing ropes, then turn right around and easily dub a bulbous drake. Also, in the making of this blend, we’ve reduced the presence of muskrat guardhairs. While no dry fly stays permanently dry, you can now buy your dry more time on the water’s surface… where trout are best taken. 😉 In true Magpie form, comes in a phat 1 gram pack to keep you tying.
